Yep, I have two as well. I bought each for $35.00 (S/H included), so a $10 (I think) premium to what the mint was selling them for, but a nice deal compared to what they're going for now. |

There are only 459,000 of them, compared to the rarest of the regular uncirculated SAEs (1996) at more than 3 million. Of that 459,000, 250,000 are in the 3 SAE Anniversary set. 209,000 were released individually. |

I ordered 5 of them from the mint, bit did not think they would be all that valuable because they said they were going to mint them to demand. If I had known that they were going to stop making them, thereby turning them into a low-mintage item, I would have ordered a few more. By the way, I am still waiting for my 5, but at least the mint says they now have them and that they are reserved. :yippee: |

Well, I saw it on this website a week or more ago and I also saw it on one of those "Home Shopping Network" channels that was selling these coins for outrageous amounts of money. I didn't buy any from the mint, as I thought what you did, but later I found a supplier online who had two extra and was selling them for $35 each including S/H. So I bought them. I actually have a third, as I also was lucky enough to buy a 20th anniversary set for $125 with S/H included. |

Now that I've said all that, I'm going to say that I was wrong. :albertein
The 250,000 is legit, as is the 209,000 individually minted figure. However, I forgot the other set - the W SAE and GAE. I think there were ~11k of those. That would push the total to ~470,000. So, still much less than any of the other Uncs (lowest was '96 with 3.6 million), but way more than the mid '90's W proof (1995? - 30k or so), as well as some of the other proofs (380k-420k). Then again, those of the latter sell for $150-$200 apiece regularly. So, think of it this way - in the 20th Anniversary set you received the 2nd "rarest" SAE (the reverse proof with 250k mintage), as well as the 6th-8th (depending on final mint numbers) rarest (the W Unc), plus the latter was available for sale individually. |
